Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture, Representative Director and President: Kiyoshi Nakajima, hereinafter referred to as "Murata Manufacturing") has signed a license agreement with European tire manufacturer Michelin (Headquarters: Clermont-Ferrand, France, CEO: Florent Menegaux, hereinafter referred to as "Michelin") regarding the use of RFID tags in tires and the embedding of RFID tags in tires. As a result, Murata's RFID tags in tires can be provided to tire manufacturers around the world to help achieve tire management, logistics, aftermarket maintenance and quality traceability in factories and warehouses.
In 2024, there was a shortage of truck drivers in Japan, and there was an urgent need to reduce the burden of non-delivery operations such as delivery and product inspection on truck drivers. In addition, in Europe, the promotion of environmental protection measures such as ESPR and the Digital Product Passport System?2 has made obtaining product information, improving management and inspection efficiency, and ensuring traceability more important. Therefore, the tire industry expects to use RFID tags to manage tires including the product life cycle and improve its efficiency. The installation of RFID tags in tires is being continuously promoted. Currently, Hangzhou Zhongce, Shandong Linglong and Sanjiao are continuously promoting it.
